Joint Accreditation

The Commission is also working with the American Montessori Society (AMS) to develop a joint accreditation program for their New England schools.
Independent schools in Connecticut that are accredited by the Commission on Independent Schools receive recognition by the Connecticut Department of Education for inclusion in its School Approval Program.
Connecticut Department of Education-Bureau of Early Childhood Development uses the Commission on Independent Schools as an accrediting agency for the early childhood programs in Connecticut.
NEASC is currently in discussion with the Department of Education – Department of Early Education & Care to establish standards and procedures to accredit early childhood programs in Massachusetts.
